So many people tell me that there’s one particular colleague who seems to be the boss’s favourite and always gets more attention than deserved.
While it can be annoying, here’s what I used to do back in the day when I was in corporate.
I OBSERVED THE OFFICE FAVOURITE.
I noticed how they spoke, how they handled conflict, how they networked, how they completed their projects.
I parked aside any resentment and studied what made them so special.
And 9 times out of 10, I learned a lot of career wisdom just through observation.
Not all office favourites are worth emulating. But if you take the time to figure out what they’re doing right and ignore the bits that seem wrong to you, you really can learn a lot from them.
